Vintage bureau desk
A vintage bureau desk, fully refurbished to a high standard and ready to find a new home. This bureau desk provides ample storage space, as well as a drop down panel which can be used for writing or working on a laptop. I’ve also seen these used as a home bar, so it’s truly a multi functional piece of furniture.
This bureau desk has been finished with coal black paint on the outside, and cranberry on the inside. The doors, drawer front and drop down panel have all been left as natural wood, in order to show off the lovely grain pattern, and they have been finished with danish oil for a lovely sheen. Inside, the horizontal surfaces have been covered with a black lining, which is durable, waterproof and heat resistant.
The hinges on the drop down panel have been replaced with larger, stronger versions. New handles have been added which give the piece a more contemporary feel. And a new key has been cut for the lock, as the original was missing.
Adjustments have been made so that the drawer and all doors open and close smoothly. And a stopper has been added to the drawer, which wasn’t there originally. This is something I like to do as a safety feature, to prevent the drawer from being pulled all the way out.
As this is a vintage piece of furniture, there are some very minor marks on the wood as you’d expect. But this gives it a lovely warm character and provides a nod to its history.
I commit to donating 5% of all sales to Friends of the Earth. Together we can help them to protect the natural world and the wellbeing of everyone in it.
